We visited Thompson Mill this weekend, Oregon’s oldest water-powered flour mill.  They were celebrating their 150 year birthday.  We thought it was still a working mill, and were looking forward to bringing home some local flour, but its not.  It was really beautiful in its simplicity of hand-built wooden gears and levers.  You can still smell the old grain and almost see it in its glory.

This is one of the many field burning fires that surrounded us yesterday.  Disgusting.
