The baby is due in less than a month! Of course, I, of all people, know that this doesn’t mean the baby will be here in a month. (Ruby was born 14 days after her due date – which I can’t even think about right now.) But, it is so exciting to be that close to this little one’s arrival. There aren’t words for how ready I am to be done with pregnancy.
Ruby is super excited and completely convinced the baby is a girl. She babies her dolls and stuffed animals. I catch her rocking a doll, patting its back, saying, “It’s okay, you don’t need to cry.” and pretending to change diapers! We’ll see how it all plays out when the time comes, but at least she is pretending so sweetly.
Meanwhile, I’m busy bossing John around about what we still need to do before I go into labor, fretting about how Ruby will do with all the commotion, trying to mentally prepare myself for everything that is about to happen, and trying to find a more comfortable position on the couch.
